Publication Frequency
Quarterly Publication
Notulae Scientia Biologicae is published quarterly, with four issues forming one annual volume.
Each issue is completed and published by the end of the corresponding quarter.
Online First Publication
Manuscripts accepted after peer review may be published in the journal’s Online First section before completion of the corresponding quarterly issue.
Online First publication takes place only after the editorial preparation and technical editing have been completed, the final proof has been made available to the authors for verification, and any necessary corrections and final checks have been concluded.
DOI Activation and Citation
Each article published Online First receives an active Digital Object Identifier (DOI). The DOI becomes functional when the final article is made publicly available in the Online First section.
The same DOI is retained when the article is subsequently included in the completed quarterly issue. A separate DOI is not assigned for the issue version.
Assignment to a Quarterly Issue
Articles published Online First are subsequently included in the relevant quarterly issue. Once the issue is completed, the article is displayed within that issue while retaining the same DOI, publication year, volume, article number, and scientific content.
The definitive issue information is added to the article record and associated metadata. The transition from Online First to the completed issue does not constitute a new publication and does not alter the identity of the article.
Publication Workflow
Publication Scheduling
The timing of Online First publication and assignment to a quarterly issue depends on completion of the editorial and technical process, author verification of the final proof, the journal’s publication schedule, and the composition of the relevant issue.
Acceptance of a manuscript does not guarantee publication in a particular issue unless this has been expressly confirmed by the journal.
